Dupyutren’s disease

This is a fibrous retraction of the hand palm which develops tough nodules and becomes a kind of cord that can easily be felt under the skin; it may cause a finger to curl (often the small and/or ring finger).
Tendons are not concerned; this only has to do with a disease of the hand palmar fibers.
The early forms can benefit from a recent surgical procedure called « needle therapy » under local anesthesia whose purpose is to section (with a small needle through the skin) the cord that causes the finger to curl.
The more severe forms require an incision of the hand palm to remove the nodules and cords which allows to prevent recurrence of the disease.
