Knee

The three most frequent operations in knee surgery are as follows :

  • The treatment of meniscus tear (called meniscus resection)
  • The replacement of a torn cruciate ligament (called ligamentoplasty)
  • Total knee replacement surgery is recommended for severe osteoarthritis.

Procedures on menisci or ligaments are now performed by using a technique called arthroscopy :

Arthroscopy (see 2 diagrams below) :

Arthroscopy is a surgical technique that allows to treat knee disorders without open surgery (using a camera and 2 or minor incisions in the skin)

The concerned patients most often practise sportive activities and are eager to recover their physical abilities.

This technique allows to perform a treatment for torn menisci and replacement of cruciate ligaments.
